MTV ha annunciato le categorie e le nomination per gli “MTV Movie & TV Awards” 2018, l’evento che celebra gli attori, le storie e i momenti che hanno definito la cultura pop dello scorso anno. Lo show, che sarà presentato da Tiffany Haddish, anche quest’anno vedrà le categorie senza distinzione di genere, una scelta del brand che ha rappresentato una svolta storica, un cambiamento che ha segnato un’industria. Lo spettacolo andrà in onda lunedì 18 giugno su tutti i canali del network, alle 21.00 locali dal Barker Hangar di Los Angeles. In Italia lo show sarà trasmesso in contemporanea su MTV (in esclusiva su Sky canale 133) nella notte tra il 18 e il 19 giugno alle 3.00, mentre martedì 19 giugno alle 21.00 andrà in onda la versione sottotitolata.
Ulteriori categorie e premi saranno annunciati prossimamente.
“Black Panther”, uno dei 10 film di maggior successo di tutti i tempi in tutto il mondo, guida le nomination con 7 candidature e segna la prima volta che il film viene riconosciuto in un award show. Le nomination che ha ricevuto includono la categoria Best Movie, presentato da Toyota, e Best On-Screen Team, mentre Chadwick Boseman, il protagonista, è stato nominato per Best Performance in a Movie e Best Hero. Inoltre, Letitia Wright è stata nominata nella categoria Scene Stealer per il suo ruolo di “Shuri” e Michael B. Jordan è in nomination per Best Villain per la sua interpretazione di “N’Jadaka/Erik Killmonger”.
“Stranger Things” ha ottenuto un totale di 6 nomination, incluse Best Show e Best On-Screen Team. Millie Bobby Brown è nominata per Best Performance in a Show per la sua interpretazione di “Undici” e Dacre Montgomery ha ottenuto la nomination nella categoria Scene Stealerper il suo ruolo nei panni di “Billy Hargrove”.
Il produttore e direttore Joel Gallen, vincitore di un Emmy® Award, sarà il produttore esecutivo e direttore dei “Movie & TV Awards” 2018, tornando allo spettacolo che ha contribuito a creare ad MTV e che ha prodotto per 14 anni. Durante la sua carriera, Gallen ha diretto una vasta gamma di show iconici nell’ambito degli eventi live e del varietà. Attualmente è direttore e produttore esecutivo del “Roast Battle” di Comedy Central e ha prodotto e diretto 13 “Comedy Central Roasts”, compreso quello con Bruce Willis in arrivo prossimamente. Ha inoltre diretto e prodotto il programma di MTV del 2010 “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief”, in collaborazione con George Clooney e Wyclef Jean. Inoltre, ha diretto e prodotto 17 cerimonie di inserimento nella “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”, è stato il produttore esecutivo di “Zoolander” e ha diretto la commedia di successo “Not Another Teen Movie”.
